I was excited to win a Kindle version of this book through a Goodreads giveaway。 Memories of choose-your-own-adventure books from my youth flooded back。 It was fun to try one in Kindle and I hope to do another soon。

Super fun & engaging!I loved the Choose Your Path book I was lucky enough to find as a child, 'Sugar Cane Island'。 I read and re-read it until I'd chosen every path! The Empty Cabin is much more intricate than my beloved 1970's adventure, and held my granddaughters interest exponentially better than regular formatted chapter books for 10 year olds。 I didn't have to remind my girl it was reading time! My 12-year-old son Grant read this one and gave me his opinion:"I thought it was a good book。 It felt like it could actually happen, and it was suspenseful and mysterious。 The choices were difficult so I didn't solve the mystery the first time I read it。 I think this book is good for kids from ages 10 to 13。 I thought the story was more interesting than other choice-making kinds of books。" My 12-year-old son Grant read this one and gave me his opinion:"I thought it was a good book。 It felt like it could actually happen, and it was suspenseful and mysterious。 The choices were difficult so I didn't solve the mystery the first time I read it。 I think this book is good for kids from ages 10 to 13。 I thought the story was more interesting than other choice-making kinds of books。" 。。。more

Unlike most books I read, this is an interactive, choose your own path book! You begin the story as Sam, the child of two proprietors of a summer resort。 When a long-time guest goes missing, you are determined to follow the clues and investigate their disappearance。 What tools will you bring? Who should you question first? Only you, the reader, can decide the best move to make, and experience the consequences as you go。 If at first you don’t succeed, re-trace your steps and try again! I have never read anything like this, but it was so fun! The story includes a map, instructions for how to follow along, and invites the reader to use deductive reasoning to solve the mystery。 The reader is instructed to make a suspect list, and use clues and logic to find the person responsible。 This was very enjoyable, and would be an excellent activity for a middle-grade reader! It’s also the perfect thing if you are dealing with a reading slump and looking for an out of the ordinary read to capture your attention! Thank you to Books Forward and the author for my gifted copy of this book! 。。。more
